The six Robert Palmer’s Almshouse cottages located in Pearson Road, Sonning, were built in 1850. They have been modified over the years and nowadays each cottage comprises a living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. Each resident must be able to live independently as there is no resident warden. The plots in the large area behind the cottages that are not required for the use by  residents are let out as allotments.
